December is here!  That means holidays like Hanukkah (Dec. 18-26), Christmas (Dec. 25), and Kwanzaa (Dec. 26-Jan. 1), along with the first day of winter and New Year's Eve are on the way ... but there's so much more happening this month!

We might just be hungry today, but we decided it was a great time to recognize five of the foodie holidays celebrated in December ... and also highlight the local Macaroni KID Galveston area businesses that make these foods best:

2. Have a Bagel Day | December 11th

Celebrate this delicious ring of doughy goodness with a trip to Galveston Bagel Company. Get a strawberry bagel or be bold and try a Pelican Island Sans Cream Cheese Bagel while you are there. And don't forget to "toast" to the great bagel!

3. Cupcake Day | December 15th

Our favorite place for cupcakes in the Galveston area?  Lovejewel Treasure Treats! Have you tried them there? If not, today's the perfect day to stop for a Luxe Red Velvet Cupcake with Cream Cheese Frosting.

4. Maple Syrup Day | December 17th

I mean, did you need an excuse to take the kids out for pancakes? If so, this is it! Our favorite breakfast spots for pancakes in Galveston? The Gumbo Diner!  Once you're there? Drench those pancakes in maple syrup and enjoy.

5. Hamburger Day | December 21st

Is there anything better than a juicy, hot burger covered in fixin's? We certainly don't think so! National Hamburger Day is the perfect excuse to take off from a night of cooking and treat the family to dinner out at the Seahorse Grill in Galveston. Yum. Never mind that there seems to be a few Hamburger Days throughout the year ... we choose to celebrate them all!
