5 Things to Do With Kids in Galveston, Texas

Fun For Your Family In Galveston

By "Sunshine Sheri" | Publisher, Galveston Macaroni KID August 3, 2022

Hey, Sunshine!

I'm "Sunshine Sheri" with Macaroni KID Galveston, and here are this week's "Top 5 Picks" to do with your kids in Galveston, Texas:

1. Galveston Children's Museum

I absolutely love taking my grandchildren here for an incredible afternoon of learning; they never want to leave.

Hand-ons play and educational learning in every room throughout the ever-so-child-friendly museum.

Make sure to stop and say hello to the resident iguana in the art studio!

I highly recommend this museum as one of the best kid-friendly activities for kids in Galveston.

Address: 2618 Broadway Avenue J, Galveston, TX 77550, USA

2. Galveston's The Strand

The Strand, a 5-block historical district near the cruise terminal pier.

Shopping, diners, bars, ice cream parlors, toy store, and lots of little shops to pick up a trinket or two.

Whether you simply stroll The Strand or pop in an out of each little venue, I know you will have a relaxing day.

Address: 2100 Strand St, Galveston, Galveston Island, TX 77550-1633, USA

2. Galveston's Moody Gardens

I am overwhelmed with the 242-acre entertainment venue!  This is definitely one of the best Galveston tourist attractions, with so much to do, you may just want to book a room at the Moody Gardens Hotel and make this a long-weekend experience. Galveston's Moody Gardens include amazing animal exhibits including the Public Penguin Encounter and Giant River Otter Encounter, while the Aquarium Pyramid allows visitors to experience underwater scenery with critters.

The 3D and 4D special effects theater, a Discovery Museum, and a ropes course and zip line are additional attractions/activities available.

Address: 1 Hope Blvd, Galveston, TX 77554, USA

4. Galveston's Schlitterbahn

The kids will love this place!  One of the most enjoyable activities on the island, aside from the beach, of course!

Water coasters, water rivers, and water slides make up the park.

There is something for all ages at Schlitterbahn, and who is brave enough to conquer the world’s tallest water coaster, the MASSIV Monster Blaster?!?!

So much to experience, and also has heated pools, a toddler and kids play area, Rohr, Torrent River, Soaring Eagle ZipLine, Torrent Beach, and Screaming Serpents.

Schlitterbahn has food and drink on site.   Great family day of making splashing-good fun memories.

Address: 2026 Lockheed Rd, Galveston, TX 77554, USA

5. Galveston's Pleasure Pier

Oh my goodness, do you have older kids who would brave some of these amusement rides!?

Try all 15 fun rides at Pleasure Pier, including the Iron Shark Roller Coaster, Cyclone, the Galaxy Wheel, Rock N Roll, and, a kiddie carousel for the littlest friends.

Fun things to visit:  Bubba Gump Retail, Pops Candy Shoppe, and Pelican’s Bay offer something for every interest.

Address: 2501 Seawall Blvd, Galveston, TX 77550, USA
